It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

I wanted to have a shindig last year for the 50th anniversary of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" but I had some scheduling conflicts and didn't get to. So I just had one this year.

The plan was to show the cartoon with popcorn and drinks, and have a couple of Charlie Brown crafts afterwards. Oriental Trading has all kinds of Peanuts stuff, which made this a pretty easy activity to put together.

I ordered 3 dozen of these Peanuts finger puppets from Oriental Trading for one of the crafts.

I covered the tables in yellow tablecloths from Dollar General, and cut out a zig zag from black bulletin board paper that I glued across the tables to mimic Charlie Brown's t-shirt.

A close up of the finger puppets. I thought they were so cute!

We also had sticker scenes for another craft table, also from Oriental Trading.

To accommodate more people, I did two tables each for both crafts and placed them on either side of the projector screen.

charlie brown marshmallow pops

I also made some Charlie Brown marshmallow pops to go with the popcorn and drinks.

I got this idea from Bread Booze Bacon, and they're pretty easy to do. Just dip a marshmallow into yellow candy melts and once they dry, draw on a zigzag with black icing.

I made a little over 50 marshmallow pops, and not a single one was left. The kids loved them.

We also had a guy from another local business volunteer to come by with his Charlie Brown costume he made.
